Strings of Autumn: A Festival of Firsts

It is no exaggeration to say that the Strings of Autumn festival has changed the cultural landscape of Prague in the 15 years since its inauguration.

The festival has brought a host of world-class performers to Prague for their Czech Republic debuts – among them Cassandra Wilson, Ute Lemper, Natalie Dessay, Michael Nyman, Brad Mehldau, and Bobby McFerrin.

Eclectic programming and the finest venues in Prague have made Strings a firm favourite with music lovers

Always a trail-blazer, the festival now becomes one of the first non-profit cultural organizations in the country to hold a gala evening for patrons of the arts.

After a welcome drink in the beautiful salons of the Municipal House, watch Bobby McFerrin perform an intimate concert in the Smetana Hall.

Bobby will appear at Prague’s Congress Centre the following evening for a public concert, but only at the unique gala evening will you have the chance to hear him perform solo and with Czech artists.

The concert will climax with a taster of Bobby’s forthcoming choral album VOCAbuLarieS, which marks yet another new departure for this remarkable artist.

Following the concert, an elegant banquet will be held in the salons with 3-course dinner and live music.

The Municipal House

The Municipal House (Obecní dům) is one of the finest art nouveau structures in Prague, situated in the heart of the city on Republic Square. The building is famous for its beautiful decoration, much of which was undertaken by the renowned Czech artist Alfons Mucha.
