We Support
Strings supports young musicians
This year, the festival audience will once again have the chance to give to a good cause by buying our exclusive ‘Choco Music’ chocolates, available at all Strings concerts. All proceeds will help support talented young Czech musicians study at prestigious academies abroad.
The students will be chosen by the festival board, working closely with expert judges.
Studying abroad can provide young musicians with a platform on which to build a successful career. Scholarships often cover tuition fees only, however, which can leave the musicians struggling to raise the money required to cover travel and living costs. This is where we come in. The proceeds from Choco Music will go to one or two students, whose careers we will then closely follow.
Musicians who would like to be considered for this charity project can send a CD and covering letter to office@strunypodzimu.cz.
To be considered for this charity project, musicians…:
- should have finished their secondary school education.
- must provide confirmation of acceptance for a study programme abroad with a focus on jazz.
- must be aged 30 and under
Additional Criteria::
- Creative ambition and flair for composition are considered advantages.
Terms for transfer of funds:
- Payment in instalments by agreement with the participant.
- The participant will later provide confirmation of study undertaken; minimum length of study one year (two semesters).
The Jury
Candidates are assessed by an expert jury consisting of Patrik Hlavenka, Martin Šulc, and Jaromír Honzák. An expanded jury - including festival artistic director Marek Vrabec and the director of the O2 Foundation Ivana Šatrová - will then vote to choose the winning candidate.
